NEW AUTOMATIC END TAGGING SYSTEM FOR LUMBER PROVIDES LABOR SAVINGS AND INCREASED PRODUCTIVITY

GLENVIEW, ILLINOIS — Signode introduces the End Tagger, a system designed to automate lumber tagging to improve packaging productivity and enhance the aesthetics of retail lumber loads. The automated End Tagger eliminates the manual tagging of lumber loads, resulting in consistent, uniform lumber tagging.   

Simple to use and easy to operate, the End Tagger can be easily incorporated into the layout of most lumber mills and treating operations. Capable of accommodating varying sizes of dimensional lumber and panel products, the End Tagger is easily programmed to tag loads of any configuration. The operator simply chooses the appropriate thickness, width, length, grade, and pack size. Once the information is entered into the PLC, the End Tagger indexes to the load, and feeds, cuts and staples a tag to the end of each board. An entire load can be tagged in approximately one minute.

Along with the savings in labor costs, the End Tagger also eliminates the safety concerns often associated with the traditional lumber tagging process. With the End Tagger, employees won’t be exposed to the potential risks of repetitive motion problems as well as finger and hand injuries.

The End Tagger can maximize your operation’s productivity, while satisfying retail store requirements. With most retail establishments now requiring bar codes affixed to each item for efficient product scanning, the End Tagger provides the uniformity and aesthetics necessary for retailer acceptance and satisfaction.

Innovative Systems & Designs has recently moved into a larger building to accommodate its customers faster with a larger manufacturing area.

Congratulations to Pollard Lumber Company in Appling, GA.  They have just installed a four head end tagging system.  This system can tag a pack of 2" x 4" 16 layers high 12 pieces wide in 45 SECONDS!  Or a pack of 5/4" x 6" 15 layers high and 8 pieces wide in 30 seconds!
